Watching the bear feeding frenzy at the hatchery made us hungry for salmon! It takes us a little longer to catch one, but then again we don't need to eat 30 a day.

ree

Coho!

ree

We moved on to Takatz Bay, where our friends on Airship were waiting.

ree

To facilitate social discourse, we rafted up next to them.

ree

And then of course set off to explore.

ree

Yes, there are a lot of bears in Alaska

ree

Red Bluff Bay, with it's narrow serpentine entrance was next. Good fishing and prawns!

ree

The unusual Red Bluff is in the background.

ree

We won't go hungry with Julie on board!

ree

A storm was coming in, so an early morning departure into the calm seas of Frederick Sound,

ree

watching whales along the way (yes, there are a lot of whales in Alaska),

ree

And listening to Craig play Haydn's trumpet concerto, the notes drifting 2 miles across the water at the base of the sharp-peaked snowy mountains.

ree

We headed to Cannery Cove in Pybus Bay to wait out a storm.

ree

We had three days entertained by salmon jumping...

ree

watching the rescue of an accidentally beached boat by the fishing lodge guests...

and eating delicious food.

After the storm, time to head for Petersburg to pick up friends joining us for the next week.

About Us

The salt water has been part of our lives for over 40 years, and we have owned sailboats for most of those.  We love the PNW and all that it has to offer with the beautiful Salish Sea, access to the Pacific Ocean and the wildlife that inhabit these areas.  We have the opportunity to expand our usual areas of exploration this year, and will depart May 24, 2021 for SE Alaska.
