Leaving Kynoch Inlet, after a restless night at anchor. The currents from the lagoon and river kept the boat mostly in one place, but wind and chop picked up. I was glad to leave in the morning.

Turning into the Mussel Inlet area.

Looking up Mussel Inlet to the valley and estuary.

Lodging for the Kitasoo Guardian and/or BC Parks people. We tried to contact them repeatedly before entering, but no one answered. I think it is too early in the season. We were the only ones there. We slowly cruised around the whole inlet before leaving it untouched. We didn't see any wildlife today.

We looked for mountain goats that are said to live here in the high alpine meadows. We did not see any.

Poison Cove, a very small anchorage, within Mussel Inlet. Named after some of Captain Vancouver's crew who fell very ill after eating shellfish here. We tried to imagine him in this inlet with huge masted sailing ships, and no engines, looking for the NW passage.

Large cascades of water.

Leaving Mussel Inlet... such a special place. Grateful to have these images in my mind.

About Us

The salt water has been part of our lives for over 40 years, and we have owned sailboats for most of those.  We love the PNW and all that it has to offer with the beautiful Salish Sea, access to the Pacific Ocean and the wildlife that inhabit these areas.  We have the opportunity to expand our usual areas of exploration this year, and will depart May 24, 2021 for SE Alaska.
