Waterfalls

Another early day with nearly 90 nautical miles ahead to Klewnugget Cove.

A windless, gray day with smooth water for making another long passage. The first challenge was getting through adverse current in Hiekish Narrows that slowed our boat speed to 4 knots for about an hour. We had become accustomed to favorable current almost the entire time since we left, so it felt very slow.

Soon we entered Graham Reach and were back up to speed, passing numerous waterfalls on both sides, some bursting from the trees to cascade into the water.

Grenville Channel gave us a nice lift with speeds of 9-10 knots as the water swept us to our anchorage in Klewnugget Inlet Marine Park. Early to bed for tomorrow’s 95 mile push to Alaska with a dicey weather forecast.

Waterfalls are amazing. I had forgotten about how many there are in Alaska.

About Us

The salt water has been part of our lives for over 40 years, and we have owned sailboats for most of those.  We love the PNW and all that it has to offer with the beautiful Salish Sea, access to the Pacific Ocean and the wildlife that inhabit these areas.  We have the opportunity to expand our usual areas of exploration this year, and will depart May 24, 2021 for SE Alaska.
